We're going to be doing a new thing every week where we pitch two songs into a ring and see what you think about them.
The Great Die Off vs Architects Which song was the better opener? Which song do you like best? GO!!!

To answer my own question... I think The Great Die Off is the better overall song as well as the best album opener of the two. From that violin intro leading to that "violent" start, The Great Die starts great and stays GREAT. I've always had a problem with the sound of Architects. Specifically, the chorus. Just sounded too "poppy" compared to the rest of the song.

The Great Die Off because it sounds a bit like old Rise Against

Both songs are awesome openers and one of the best songs on each respective album. However, The Great Die-Off wins in my eyes. There isn't a dull moment, to the powerful chorus, to the awesome moment where Tim drops the motherfing, and the amazing outro, you can't hate this song. Architects is also awesome, it has one of my favorite RA bridges (trust me I like a lot of them), but The Great Die-Off is a potential top 10 RA song.

Thinking in terms of opening numbers I would have to say Great Die-Off because it starts the album off with a bang from the intro to the last note, but in terms of the songs as stand alones I would have to say Architects because the song means a lot to me personally and the chorus and bridge always gets me going!

Architects means a lot to me, but as a song, I'd have to say The Great Die-Off, hands down. Fantastic song with great lyrics - I don't speak music well enough to describe what I love about the instruments, but the line "The cold dead hands we pry these guns from are yours" is fucking fantastic. And the instrumental, and the way it leads into that explosion - it's amazing, and even better live.

They're both amazing songs but I have to go with die-off. It took me a couple of listens to endgame to really love architects (its one of my favorite songs now), but from the moment I listened to the black market album die-off has been my favorite song of the album.
