Well, since nothing is posted on any of these threads I decided I might as well post something. I'll be giving my thoughts on each RA album track by track (if this is received well), and I think it would be cool if some of you gave your thoughts as well. I decided I'll start with the first RA album I ever listened to, Appeal to Reason. While not my favorite RA record I still really enjoy it. So... Let the review begin.
Collapse (Post-Amerika): Wow, what an awesome opener! It starts the record off on the right foot with a very fun song to listen to. An awesome guitar riff and some very powerful lyrics to boot. 9.5/10
Long Forgotten Sons: This is one of two songs I may get flack for not liking that much. I really enjoy the bass opening, and there isn't anything wrong with the song. It just doesn't stick out to me. 7.75/10
Re-Education (Through Labor): One of the first songs I heard from this band. A very good overall song, with the highlights being the chorus, and potentially the best, most powerful bridge on the album.
Easily a 9/10
The Dirt Whispered: This song is more poppier (is that a word?) than most RA songs. However, this is a very pleasant change of pace. A very cool opening/bridge, and a fun, sing-along style chorus.
8.5/10
Kotov Syndrome: This song is amazing. It's potentially RA's most underrated song. Everything about this song, the riff, the simple yet effective chorus, the bridge that completely changes paces, it's all awesome! Potentially my favorite song on the record.
10/10
From Heads Unworthy: A very good song. It sticks out with its slower tempo than most of the album, but it's not boring. If anything the slower tempo gives it more power. The lyrics on this one stick out, and so does the bridge. 8.75/10
The Strength To Go: That opening man. When Tim belts "Welcome home" it gets me everytime. An enjoyable song through and through, it just doesn't stick out that much. 8.25/10
Audience Of One: This is the other song I'll get flack for not liking. I'm sorry, I just could never get into this one that much. It just doesn't have the, energy for a lack of a better word, that most RA songs have. The songs coming after are so good this one just seems like an appetizer. It's still RA, so I'm far from hating the song, but it's far from my favorite. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 7.5/10
Entertainment: A cool song with just a different vibe, and a weird semi-polka style bridge. It's just good RA. 8.5/10
Hero of War: RA has awesome acoustic songs, and this song is no exception. Seriously, this song is pleasant on the ears, and it has very powerful lyrics. The only thing I don't like about the song is the line "they pissed in his hands". It's just off putting to me, but I think that was the purpose of that line. 9.5/10
Savior: We all know this song, we know it's awesome. It's RA's most popular song for a reason. 10/10
Hairline Fracture: I have a love-hate relationship with this song. Sometimes I think it's just way too weak of an RA song, but sometimes I really enjoy it because of how mellow it is. I still believe it has an awesome bridge either way. 7.25/10
Whereabouts Unknown: So we go from the weakest song to arguably the most energetic and heavy song. This song has one of the only times Tim screams on the album, a staple of RA that's been missing. I love the chorus in this one, especially when Tim belts "It's alright!". A very good closer to a very good album. 9.5/10
Elective Amnseia: I choose to review this here because it's on the iTunes version of the album I have. Honestly, I don't know why they didn't put this on the record. It's really different, but different in the right way. I could honestly see a crowd screaming the lyrics to this chorus if they made it a live staple. 9/10
